KastorFlow guides

Short, step-by-step guides for each part of KastorFlow. Everything here works on notebooklm.google.com and on notebook.google.com (Gemini Notebook).

Get started

  1. Add KastorFlow from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to the toolbar.
  2. Open NotebookLM in a tab and sign in with your Google account. KastorFlow connects to that tab; it never asks for your Google password.
  3. Open your first notebook. KastorFlow's buttons appear next to NotebookLM's own sources, notes and Studio.
  4. Open the dashboard from the toolbar button for the full workspace: Collect, Organize, Create, Automate and Settings.

No account is needed to start. Sign in when you want your Free limits counted, or to upgrade.

Save a ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini chat to NotebookLM

  1. Open the conversation in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity or Grok.
  2. Click Save to NotebookLM, the button KastorFlow adds to the chat page.
  3. Pick a notebook, or create a new one. The conversation is added as a source.

KastorFlow reads the conversation only when you click the button. Free includes 5 chat saves a day; Pro has no daily limit.

Add YouTube videos and playlists

  1. Copy a video, playlist or channel link from YouTube.
  2. Paste it in Collect or in the side panel.
  3. For a playlist, choose one source per video, or one merged source for the whole playlist.
  4. Pick a notebook. Long imports run in the background and keep going if you close the tab.
  • A single video link is a free single-link import.
  • One source per video: 3 runs a month on Free, no monthly limit on Pro.
  • One merged source for a playlist: Pro.
  • Video frames with the full transcript, saved as a PDF: 3 a month on Free.

A run that imports nothing isn't counted.

Save web pages, selected text and PDFs

  • The page you're on: click the KastorFlow toolbar button and save it to a notebook.
  • Selected text: select it, right-click and choose the KastorFlow save option.
  • A page as a PDF: use Screen capture as PDF to keep exactly what you see.
  • Posts and threads: save from X and Reddit with the button KastorFlow adds.
  • Many at once (Pro): paste several links, add your open tabs, or import a CSV or an RSS feed.

Quick Capture, which saves with one keystroke on any page, stays off until you turn it on.

Find anything: library and search

  1. Open Organize to see every notebook, source and Studio artifact in one library.
  2. Press Ctrl+K (⌘+K on a Mac) to search your whole workspace at once.
  3. Use filters and tags to narrow a long list, then act on what you select. Bulk actions appear as soon as you select items.

Tag sources, by hand or with AI

  1. Tag any source or artifact from the library.
  2. To let AI tag for you, open Organize → Tags → Manage tags and accept a short list of broad tags. KastorFlow suggests them from your notebook titles.
  3. AI picks only from your list and leaves a source untagged when nothing fits. AI tags carry a mark, and one click removes or changes them.
  4. To tag every new import automatically, turn on Settings → Preferences → Tag new imports with AI (Pro).

Free includes AI tags for 20 sources a month.

Studio artifacts: browse, download, generate

  • Open Organize → Artifacts to browse and preview every Audio Overview, report, slide deck and other Studio result across your notebooks.
  • Download one, or all of them at once (Free).
  • Generate every Studio artifact for a notebook in one click, or revise a single slide (Pro).

Build a research notebook on a topic

  1. Open Create and choose Build research notebook.
  2. Type a topic. NotebookLM's own research engine finds sources for it.
  3. Review what it found, then import the ones you keep into a new notebook. NotebookLM's report becomes the briefing.

Free includes 5 builds a month; Pro and Pro+ have no monthly limit. Thorough research depth is Pro+.

Automations

  1. Open Automate and pick a trigger, such as a schedule or a new source.
  2. Pick the actions that follow it: import, refresh, tag, generate or publish.
  3. Review, name and save the rule. Or start from a ready-made automation.

Refresh, enrich and podcast publishing steps wait for your approval. One switch pauses every rule. Automations are a Pro tool; notebook autopilot is Pro+.

Publish Audio Overviews as a podcast

  1. Generate an Audio Overview in NotebookLM.
  2. In KastorFlow, publish it as an episode with a title, notes and a picture.
  3. Copy your feed's RSS link into any podcast app, or submit it to a podcast directory.

Published episodes are public to anyone with the feed link. Pro includes 1,000 published minutes and Pro+ 5,000; unpublishing an episode gives its minutes back.

Plans, limits and billing

  • See your plan and what's left this month in Settings → Plan & usage.
  • Every paid tool shows its plan, with Get Pro or Get Pro+ to upgrade.
  • Manage or cancel your subscription from Settings → Plan & usage → Manage billing.

Compare every tool by plan

Troubleshooting

  • "Open NotebookLM" or nothing loads: open NotebookLM in a tab and make sure you're signed in, then try again.
  • Wrong Google account: KastorFlow follows the account NotebookLM is using in that tab. Switch accounts in NotebookLM itself; using several accounts from KastorFlow's picker is Pro.
  • A job seems stuck: check the side panel's job list; long jobs keep running in the background. Settings → Extension health shows what KastorFlow can reach.
  • Something still isn't right: use Report a problem in KastorFlow, or contact support.
